Part2ism
A Revolutionary Fine Artist Keith Part2ism has been turning heads recently in East London with his large scale wall series 'Tamara'. The naked gas masked lady pearing at life through 3d lenses and pitched on golden yellow emulsion has been mistaken for a large monochrome paste up on several occasions.
Stencil? Not quite, think hand painted and you're almost there. These classical street productions of Tamara are in fact hand painted with painstaking detail using regular car spray paint.
Ask anybody who's been around this culture before the term street art was coined and you'll learn that Keith is best known as 'Part 2' by many for pioneering photorealist graffiti in the late eighties and early nineties, inspiring writer's all over the world.
After a 10-year commitment to the Ninja Tune recording label as a producer, Part2ism has been slowly re-establishing his art for the last few years. Keith first caught people's attention once again with his cardboard cut out installations. He placed complex geometric type, as long as 30 ft in broad daylight around busy city centre's throughout the world. The project was never designed as commodity but many of these works were left in the public domain for people to hijack & Keith was caught on the BBC news & also recieved editorial in the Times & Independent. " I just wanted to play with people's perception of what this art is about, like the first time i saw graffiti on the New York subway! It was an arthouse of it's own, born out of surpression & creating something from nothing. It was about expanding your own space & taking things to their limits".
As well as his large scale wall productions, recent work include's Part2ism's awesome centre piece at Mutate Britain. 'Tamara pt 3', is a 50's pin up style with a contempory twist, painted onto a real titanium plane wing which took aproximately 20 people to hang from the ceiling of Cordy house.
So, what's next for Part2ism, a full jet maybe? Seems the world is his canvas... Go to www.myspace.com/part2ism to keep up to date with all wall projects & future shows.
